This is an example of a short brief I wrote for a daily news letter, much of my reporting has ended up in these newsletters, and much of my editing work is presented as well.

These are just a few examples of all the yearbook photos I took of grades 9-11.

Journalism Final Reflection
This year in journalism, I have written quite a bit of stories regarding the past events of the years. I even created a piece of video journalism, which was a new and fun challenge. I also initially took the yearbook photos, which was another challenge I was unfamiliar with to begin with. I believe I contributed to the Quills mission this year by creating stories that allowed the community of AHS to share its thoughts and opinions in a fun and professional way. I have always believed that journalism and media are the most powerful tools there are, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been able to learn and participate in this class during my time at Animas.
Now more than ever, journalism is one of the most important things there is in this country and in the world. To find the truth about the way we work as humans has been highly compromised by the 5th estate in the past few decades, so it is absolutely crucial that reporters around the world stay loyal to the facts and the truth. Journalism can be both a positive and negative tool and at Animas High School, I have seen it bring a community closer together and invite students to open their minds.
I will not be returning to AHS and the quill for my senior year, but this class has been one of the most important and influential subjects in my high school career. It has allowed me to find a passion I intend to pursue, to hone my skills, and given me perspectives on life and the world that will forever be influential. I want to thank you, Jessica, for giving me the opportunity of leadership during my time at the Quill. I am forever grateful for you and your support, as well as what you and this class have taught me about myself and my future. Letting small, freshman, Mia into your class was one of the best opportunities that I could have received at my time at Animas. It is so incredibly hard leaving my work and the Quill, but the skills and lessons I have gained will stay with me eternally. Thank you for everything.
